Amanda Moss Wins Beyond Boundaries Reads Award for You’re Going to Die, So Do It Anyway

Amanda Moss has received the Beyond Boundaries Reads Award for her nonfiction work You’re Going to Die, So Do It Anyway: Living Fearlessly in your 40s and 50s. The annual award, presented by OneTribune Media, recognizes books that “transcend borders—geographical, cultural, and imaginative,” and that “foster empathy and highlight universal themes while amplifying diverse voices from around the world.”

The book was selected for its exploration of personal autonomy, midlife identity, and emotional transformation. According to a review on the OneTribune platform, “Moss doesn’t sugarcoat midlife. She reclaims it… It’s buying the dress that shows too much skin and wearing it anyway because ‘too much’ is a label for women others don’t know how to place.” Another excerpt from the review states, “She writes of marriage not as the fairy tale we’re told to pursue, but as a partnership that can wither silently into resentment… Of survival not just as endurance—but reinvention.”

The book’s language and structure were also noted by the jury for their divergence from traditional genre formats. “Her prose sharpens when she speaks of boundaries,” one reviewer observed. “She writes about saying ‘no’ with the gravity of someone who knows how costly ‘yes’ can be when given too freely.”

You’re Going to Die, So Do It Anyway examines Moss’s lived experiences, including divorce, motherhood, mental health, aging, and career shifts. The book positions midlife not as an endpoint, but as a period of deliberate personal redirection.

Separately, The Chrysalis BREW Project described the book as “scotch on the rocks for the scorched soul of the woman who’s done playing nice.” That review emphasized the author’s candid approach, writing, “Childhood abuse, spousal neglect, and post-divorce emotional chaos are laid bare—but not for pity. They are the foundation for growth.”

The Beyond Boundaries Reads Award spans multiple genres including nonfiction, fiction, youth literature, and poetry. Moss’s work was selected for its contribution to literature that reflects transitional life experiences and its depiction of self-actualization beyond conventional milestones.
